INFORM Act introduced in U.S. House of Representatives (H.R. 2967)

Representatives Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.) and Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) introduced the INFORM Act in the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday, August 2. Their introduction of the bill, now H.R. 2967, demonstrates both bipartisan and intergenerational support for the INFORM Act.

“Today’s estimated costs are tomorrow’s record deficits. The INFORM Act gives Congress a reality check on the long-term costs of important legislation," said Rep. Cooper.

The INFORM Act represents democracy in action.

After learning about generational accounting in January 2012, a group of young people who call themselves “The Can Kicks Back” ( organized a day of action on Capitol Hill in February to urge Congress to address the national debt in a bold, generationally balanced and bipartisan way.
